About

Malak Habbak is an Egyptian-American born and raised in Southern California. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication and an emphasis of Journalism at Cal Poly Pomona in 2016. It was there that her love of photography kindled.

Malak was a photographer and staff writer at The Poly Post, the campus’ newspaper reaching 20,000 students and staff, where she wrote news, lifestyle, opinion and investigative pieces.

Throughout her work as a journalist, Malak continues tapping into photography.

In the summer of 2016, Malak worked with Capital Public Radio in Sacramento on various photojournalism opportunities, including photo stories for the “100 Young Voters” campaign on Instagram, a photoessay for The View From Here’s: A Year at Encina, and photographs of the Sacramento Mural Festival and the California Legislature’s final day of session.

On her free time, Malak enjoys the outdoors, running cross-country, reading, painting and travel.
